MCPatcher is a program that, at your discretion, will modify the “minecraft.jar” file that is located in the game folder you have installed on your PC. In other words, it adds patches to your Minecraft game. What patches does it add? Well, whichever one you want, maximum compatibility patches in which it doesn’t matter what version of the game you’re currently playing: all the beta versions and test updates, mods with different texture packs for the blocks and the game itself, etc. Basically, you can play whatever version you want, whenever you want.

To start using MCPatcher, all you have to do is indicate the file path for the “minecraft.jar” file in the program options, and then choose your desired version from the list of updates.
